I have been trying (unsucssefully) to install v3.0 on my new iMac running OS X 10.5.4. I have followed the installation instructions. Towards the end of the installation process, a window pops up on the desktop saying - "New network interfaces have been detected. The following network interfaces have not been set up. Ethernet Adaptor (en3) Ethernet Adaptor (en4) To set up these interfaces, open Network Preferences" I can click either "cancel" or "network preference". Clicking "cancel" takes back to the Parallels installation window which now says 'Install Succeeded". Clicking "network preferences" shows me that Parallels Host-Guest and Parallels NAT have both created new network conncetions with new IP address's and are both connected. When I then try to start Parallels desktop from the Applications folder, I get the message "Parrallels Desktop quit unexpectedly". I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no other applications running and still get the same result. Any ideas?
can you provide following information * Parallels Desktop version and build: Parallels Desktop- -> About Parallels Desktop * Guest OS full version with SP included (if they are); * a copy of /home/<username>/Documents/Parallels/<VM name>/<GuestVM>.pvs * Archive of /Library/Parallels/bugreports/ (right click on folder --> Create Archive) or ~/Library/Parallels/bugreports/ * /Library/Logs/panic.log or ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Parallels.crash.log from the Mac side;
• Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 4128.0 • Guest OS hasn't been installed yet. Mac OS is 10.5.4. I guess this makes the next couple of bits of information you requested irrelevant. • Crash reporter - attached as txt file Thanks, Paul
Please download build 5608 following link bellow: http://download.parallels.com/v3/en/GA/Parallels-Desktop-5608-Mac-en.dmg and reinstall Parallels Desktop as described in kb http://kb.parallels.com/en/4790
Followed all of the steps as described and got the same result. I have attached the problem report that was generated as a txt file.
Report still shows Process: Parallels [374] Path: /Applications/Parallels/Parallels Desktop.app/Contents/MacOS/Parallels Identifier: com.parallels.desktop Version: 3.0 (3.0 Build 4128.0) Code Type: X86 (Native) Parent Process: launchd [85] Try to eject CD with old Parallels version, or unmount old dmg file, before installing new version
Still no luck. I reinstalled from the .dmg that you supplied. That didnt work so re-did the uninstall process as advised. Then re-installed from the oroiginal CD and once again get the same result.
Hm, something is going wrong, if you ejected CD, before installing new version it still shows the old build?, it means that CD is in cdrom. What is in logs now?
I got our IT guy in and he had a look. He insatalled from the original disk and then installed the .dmg file you sent, over the top. It now works! Thanks for your help on this.
