Would Windows VPN expose Mac traffic?

    This is probably a dumb question....but here goes.

    If you have a VPN connection on a Windows virtual machine, does that also effect your internet traffic on your Mac? I have to VPN in to work from home and I want to know if what I am doing on the Mac side will stay private, or if that traffic is visible too?
