I know this was an issue some time ago, however I just got the error code recently: You are booting your guest operating system into PAE (Physical Address Extension) mode. Parallels Desktop does not support guest OS running in PAE mode. Please boot your guest OS in non-PAE mode to avoid this error." I am a new iMAC user and am not familiar with trying to find and remove .pvs files or VM comments. Can anyone suggest an easy fix - in non-technical terms? Thanks lwood
Remove pvs file from Finder- <your-user-name>-Document-Parallels-<You Virtual Machine name>- look for file with icon like my avatar Create new VM, using Custom installation as described in Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide from http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/doc/Parallels_Desktop_for_Mac_User_Guide.pdf on page 268 on step select either Boot Camp (if you used Boot Camp) or existing disk and add from Finder- <your-user-name>-Document-Parallels-<You Virtual Machine name> look for hdd file Be carefull not to delete hdd file if you are not using Boot Camp
Assistance John - my thanks. I will try it. Question - will Parallels work in parallel with VMware Fusion? I had to get my machine up and running and had to install VMware. If I can get Parallels up and running, I will remove Fusion. Until that happens, I might need both up and running until I can tweak parallels. Thanks lwood
Several users reported Mac OS crash when both are installed, we are checking it from our side, so may be separate installation will be the solution
Hello, I'm trying to install FreeBSD in my mac and I'm getting the error "You are booting your guest operating system into PAE (Physical Address Extension) mode. Parallels Desktop does not support guest OS running in PAE mode. Please boot your guest OS in non-PAE mode to avoid this error." I did what was suggested: ***"Remove pvs file from Finder- <your-user-name>-Document-Parallels-<You Virtual Machine name>- look for file with icon like my avatar Create new VM, using Custom installation as described in Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide from http://www.parallels.com/en/download...User_Guide.pdf on page 268 on step select either Boot Camp (if you used Boot Camp) or existing disk and add from Finder- <your-user-name>-Document-Parallels-<You Virtual Machine name> look for hdd file"*** I don't have boot camp so I'm using existing disk, but nothing new happened. By the end of the installation I got a new pvs file in my new VM, and again the error. What can I do? Thanks!
