Hi Can anyone help, Im not a tecchy so need stop by step help. I did pay for phone support but found out that £20 only buys one question and the telephone number for support is in the USA, so Im expecting a big bill.

I have only installed 1 program, Actinic, an e-commerce program.
Every page I open take 15-20 seconds to open, if I change something and apply it takes 30 secs to apply. It takes 60-80 mins when uploading to get half way through before it just stops uploading and I get command failed.
Once finished and close I start backing up and that now takes upto 2 hours.

Is there a way to make programs run at normal Mac or Windows speed.
Will boot camp run better although I dont want to have only one system running at a time.

How do I find config editor, is I click veiw/VMConfig it table turns and shows me setting, none of which show shared files, if I click edit/vertMachine it tells me I cant edit while running and to stop it, when I stop it, it just closes down and parallels disappears.
The ODF is not clear how to find or get o edit config?

Click Memory for example , and in left pane you will find Shared profile
Start Parallels Desktop and hold Command key, it will start Configuration editor

Some further steps:1. Set memory for Virtual Machine to less than 1 GB
    2. Perform Mac and Windows side disk defragmentation http://www.xvsxp.com/system/system_tools_defrag.php
    3. Set Adjust memory limit from Auto to Manual at Parallels Desktop -Preferences-Memory, and set limit a bit more higher than VM memory
    4. Disable Themes in Windows XP serives.msc stop Themes service
    5. If you are running in Coherence, try to switch to Single Window, or lower Mac resolution
    6. Some antivirus software can load CPU when Heuristic Prediction is set, or Tamper protection (Symantec, MacAffey), adjust settings to risk you are supposed, high security settings is not always good idea, as it can also affect software running
    7. Run msconfig , and disable unneeded startup items
    See http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_xp.html
    8. Make sure that no VNC,or remote desktop connection is established to Mac, this can slowdown Parallels Desktop

Yay!!!!!!! a lot of messing but (for me anyway) now have Actinic running at the correct speed in parallels and with file sharing.
Now saves my 700mb site in 10-15 mins instead of 2 hours

But I can download orders but cant send emails confirmations via Actinic nor can I upload any updates or refresh
If send email I get "the connection with the server was reset"
and if Im uploading I get to the section uploading files then " command failed"

Any ideas why I can access internet via internet explorer, or Safari, I can mail using Apple mail but Actinic cant communicate with my site??

One of the errors I was getting after install was missing a DL file.
Anyone know what a MSVCR71.dl file is
is it microsoft, parallels or Actinic?

    MSVCR71.dll - is Microsoft library,
I suppose there is something with either firewall or antivirus, try to disable both and check can you send email

so is it possible that XP did not install this file correctly and it maybe stopping the use of email from the application or upload of site?

I am not running any anti virus, and Ive tried disabling windows firewall and that makes no difference.

    Hi John,
So I've been searching for the CPU issue and saw your 8 tips posted in several places. I tried disabling themes and it does help speed things up (and make things ugly! Who knew it took so little to revert my machine back to Windows 2000), but it's still very slow to boot and hangs up sometimes. Attached is a screenshot. Also, at some point tonight my ethernet stopped working with limited or no connectivity. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling parallels tools and it didn't help. I used to use Shared internet, now the only thing that works is en0: Ethernet Adapter. Default adapter doesn't work either. It works for now but I'm looking forward to the next build.

I am using VineServer VNC. Does it slow down even when no clients are connected? Parallels is running on a rotated 90° widescreen on a second monitor, don't know if that contributes.

Hmm, no go, but I'll just keep using en0, meh.
One thing: After I killall'd and played around with switching network adapters, I got an error that said something like 'Another computer is using the hostname jordan's imac local.4, changing hostname to jordan's imac local.5. You can change this setting in System Preferences > Sharing'. Weird.

Ups, something seems to be mixed.
    Let us go by step
    1. What is network settings for VM? - recommended Shared Networking and assign IP and DNS by DHCP in Windows XP
    2. ipconfig /all in Windows
sudo killal- -HUP pvsnatd shoul bring up NAT interface
