Hello, I have successfully installed (and uninstalled, and reinstalled... etc.) Parallels Desktop for my MacBook. However, when I follow the instructions on how to install Windows XP to a virtual machine, and click the 'on' button for the virtual machine, my computer screen goes dim and i get a message saying I must restart my computer - essentially, my Macs OS (10.4.11) quits unexpectedly. I therefore cannot load Windows XP and cannot even run Parallels. Help??
It is original Parallels Desktop - tried to fix it using your method on another thread for fixing kernel crash and had 2 problems. 1. After loading utilities - terminal and inputting first line of code it asked for my system password but wouldn't let me type anything. 2. Trying to re-install from new build asked for activation key, and old key doesn't work. Would purchasing latest version solve all of this? Hence no more headaches?
I guess, you are using version 2.5, or build up to 3224 use this http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/en/GA/Parallels-Desktop-3224-Mac-en.dmg and reinstall Parallels Desktop as described in kb http://kb.parallels.com/en/4790 sudo operations in Terminal, doesn't show password, type it accurately you will not see anything
