Been using Wind... for so long it hurts and just bought a new PC with Parallels. Fantastic, but tonight for some reason, it told me I had no internet connection, whereas the host machine still has one. Signs are IE not being able to connect, same with Family History Maker. Network and Sharing Center shows MACBOOKAIR-PC connected to an unidentified network with no internet connection.

I'm fairly PC literate and I read through two other threads for people with similar problems but (a) I couldn't understand all of them exactly and (b) I'm running Vista; so some menu options in previous versions of Windows are not the same. Can anyone help, please? TIA
    Paul

    Tech spec:
    MacBook Air
    Mac OS X:10.5.4
Parallels Desktop 3.0 build 5600, running Vista
    2GB RAM
    200GB hard drive
    Boot Camp - yes
Have not upgraded either Parallels or Boot Camp since new

    Thanks John

Unfortunately the string you provided me does not work. I am still getting the IE 'cannot display the webpage' message. Is there anything I can do to diagnose and break down the problem? Thx agn

    Something prevents Parallels network interfaces,
DO you have Keyspan software, or recently installed some other software, or drivers on Mac

Hi. No: no Keyspan software, or Software updates or other drivers on Mac..... so far as I can tell. I do recall some Windows updates in the past few days, but not what they were. Is there a way to be more definite about either of these statements?

When are you guys going to fix that Keyspan conflict?

We are trying this in Parallels Desktop 4, actually a question is not to our side, as Keyspan explicitly shuts down Parallels Interfaces.

    1. Why don't you rename them then?

    2. Why have they singled you out for this persecution? Are they in cahoots with VMWare?

(Yes, I know #2 is a ridiculous question, but it shows why yours is a ridiculous explanation.)

It's going to be a cold day in hell when I buy a version upgrade to get a bug fix. Parallels had better come up with a fix for the current version or offer free upgrades to those of us who have been struggling with this defect. Otherwise, my next upgrade will be to VMWare.

We are constantly trying to fix bugs, and I said that we are trying to fix this, not we will fix it in version 4

Well then what did you mean by, "We are trying this in Parallels Desktop 4"?

I'm sorry if I misinterpreted your somewhat telegraphic response, but you do have the option of expressing yourself more clearly.

I meant we are trying to rewrite network modules to suppress (or avoid Keyspan driver execution code shutting down our interface), as far as I know we are also trying to contact they developers, but I do not know the results

I cannot see Parallels Network interfaces, en2 and en3, looks that some software prevents it to start.
    Try to use Bridged Network

Well, that worked. Thanks. The only way this is going to work for me, however, is if I can view my OS X server from within windows. Is that possible? I tried using 192.168.0.1 but that didn't work.

    [EDIT]
As I understand it, this bridged connection will only work the way I need it to by getting my host IP each time I need it. This is not good, as it means I also need to change my windows hosts file each time, too. This is obviously not going to work.

Any info you might provide would be extremely helpful. Thanks again.

Might Be a New Internet Connection Problem

Hi, ever since I installed the drivers for my USB AT&T ConnectAir, I have been unable to connect to the internet through Parallels. I have tried shared network and bridged network, I have used the article ID 4790 means of uninstalling and reinstalling Parallels 3.0, and have again tried both shared network and bridged network.

    Thanks for your help.

    Lars
