The mouse and keyboard worked until I installed Parallels tools. Now the mouse and keyboard do not work with XP Pro service pack 2. The only way to restore is to repair the xp installation with the XP disks (not OEM). I have tried to create a new image with old image but same results. How can I repair this installation? My other Vista bootcamp image works fine.

    Here is my system info
    1. Mac OS Version: 10.5.4
    2. Parallels Build #5608
    3. What kind of computer: 2.6 Ghz intel core2 Duo Macbook pro
    4. Total Physical RAM: 4 gb
    5. Hard Drives :200gb
    6. If you are using a BootCamp configuration or not: no
    7. Did you upgrade from a BETA :no
    8. With what Build did the problem start :5608
    9. If Parallels Tools are installed :yes

Try to start only one VM (XP)
Click inside Vm, check are you able to move mouse, type anything if yes, uninstall Parallels Tools, uninstall any custom mouse and keyboard drivers (if any)
Restart Vm, and reinstall Parallels Toosl

I was able to remove Parallels tools from the affected XP image after removing it in my working XP image. Now I have to use the CTRL/Alt to get the mouse and keyboard keyboard back. If I reinstall the tools program Parallels program locks up the computer. What now?

I'm having the same problem. All of a sudden the keyboard/mouse stopped working. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the latest version of parallels desktop for mac, reattach the hdd file, and still doesn't work. I've even tried creating a new guest, but as soon as I install the tools, I loose the keyboard/mouse. It doesn't even work under safe mode either. argh!

It can't be an antivirus if a fresh OS install of XP, and installing parallels tools breaks it.

In this case I suppose that upgrade was performed no correctly,
Probably old dmg was still mounted when you started upgrade
