I have an Intel iMac G5 with Leopard 10.5.4, 2.16 GHz and 1 GB ram. With bootcamp and windows xp already installed. After inserting Parallels Install disk and going through the steps, the install hangs with the bar going only 1/8 inch even after leaving overnight. How can I get Parallels installed?

You cannot install Parallels on non-Intel machine. It requires Intel chip. G5 is old PowerPC chip based machine.

Try to open Terminal and perform following command
    sudo /Volumes/Parallels\ Desktop/Install\ Parallels\ Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources/preflight

Note, you will be asked for your password

After typing your command into terminal I get this

grep: /Applications/Parallels/Parallels.app/Contents/Info.plist: No such file or directory
    /Volumes/Parallels Desktop/Install Parallels Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources/preflight: line 82: /Library/StartupItems/Parallels/Parallels: No such file or directory
kextunload: /Library/StartupItems/Parallels/Pvsvnic.kext: no such bundle file exists
    can't add kext (file access/permissions).

How is this possible from a CD?

Yes I have just bought this from the Apple store! I was disappointed when I could not install it right away.
