I have tried everything that has been suggested in previous threads (i.e., disabling floppy and shared folders in VM configuration, disabling / turning off antivirus software, booting into safe mode then rebooting and shutting down, deleting .mem and .sav files), but nothing works... When I shut down Windows, the process hangs at the "windows is shutting down..." blue screen indefinitely (I've waited more than an hour). The only way to proceed is to force quit Parallels (build 5608). Any ideas about how to fix this?

eddog, i just had this problem but with a Vista image. I ran one of those free registry cleaners and the problem went away. good luck.

Thanks - I might try that. I'm still interested in seeing if there are any other ideas out there, though...

Disabling antivirus will not work with some antiviruses , kernel is still there
