Ignore! Problem Solved
UPDATE: Problem Solved, please ignore. I just stopped the VM and fixed by checking that it was set to Vista...
----------------
I have been reading through these forums relentlessly and can't seem to find a way out of my situation.
My setup:
Macbook Pro 2.4 cd2
2 GB RAM
Mac OSX 10.5.5
Parallels 3.0 (Build 5608)
Windows Vista Ulitmate
Last week I installed Vista Ultimate using boot camp and installed all Windows updates and lots of software.
Today I installed the Parallels and followed the user guide to set up my VM using the boot camp Windows Vista.
Upon starting the VM I get the black screen:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language setting and click "next"
3. Click "Repair your Computer"
If you do not have this disc, contact your System Administrator or your computer Manufacturer for assistance.
Status: 0xc0000225
Info: Windows failed to load because the firmware (BIOS) is not ACPI compatible."
Exact same problem as these threads: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=16121&highlight=firmware+acpi+compatible
http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=30200&highlight=firmware+compatible
I hit enter and tried to continue to boot in Safe Mode, last good configuration, etc... but get back to this same screen.
John@Parallels recommended checking that the VM is set to Windows Vista.
I would love to try this but I would have to stop the current VM and it alerts me that doing so may corrupt my boot camp partition! After reading horror stories of boot camp partitions being destroyed, I want to know if there is a safe way out or if I should take my chances. I need both partitions of my computer to be productive ASAP and reinstalling a boatload of Microsoft, Autodesk and Adobe software is not going to be speedy.
Another user recommended running the Windows Setup repair, but I read on another post that this would certainly ruin my boot camp Vista!
Any help would be much appreciated, I will leave my macbook like this for a day while I work on my ooold pc. Come tomorrow I may have to just take a chance.
