Sounds like you have a dns problem.

    I think so too
    How can I solve it?
My Host (Arch Linux) is using
    DNS1=192.168.0.1
    DNS2=
I've entered the same for WindowsXp with the result posted above.
May I chose whatever DNS I like?
Do I have to switch both: DNS of host and guest?
Must they use the same DNS?

Idealy, using DHCP is preffered, in which case no dns address is needed. With a static IP, on DSL enter the address of your modem or provider's dns address, and on dialup, enter your provider's dns address.

The VM should be left with the default setup from running VM Tools.

Networking not working with Final Release

I was able to connect to network with Beta using bridged ethernet and bridged Airport with the Beta but I can not get anything to work with the final release. I have e-mailed support with no response. I have followed all combinations of the FAQs related to networking. The networking is FAR from user friendly. I have a MacBook Pro and need to be able to connect under multiple scenarios:

    1) home office - Airport with IP assigned by router/firewall
    2) office - Ethernet
    3) office - Airport
    4) Bluetooth DUN
    5) I need VPN in all of the above too.

Is there one configuration that will work for all of these? Can someone provide detailed instructions?

    Thanks!

    That's it ...
Now it's finally working using host-only networking, static IP and the provider's dns address.
However, with DHCP I did not get it to work.

    Thanks :)
