Just for reference, see ticket # 617009. Tried for many many many hours over 3 week-ends to upgrade to 4.0. Called support numerous times. The upgrade works fine. Have a BootCamp partition running Windows XP. The conversion of the virtual machine keeps stopping and needing manual intervention but eventually completes. Had to go into the 4.0 configuration and point the CD/DVD drive to an image file, which was not the default after the conversion. After that, was unable to install Parallels Tools because Windows keeps trying to install an unknown pci device and can't find the files it needs and fails and the Parallels Tools install rolls back and quits. Also keeps wanting to install video graphics driver or VGA controller (don't remember which) and can't find files to install so again the Parallels Tools install rolls back and quits. Spoke several times to Sunil and he had me change the CD/DVD drive to an image file and that eliminated one of the forced Windows installs that was stopping Parallels Tools from installing but cannot work out the others. Victor (VDI@parallels.com) spent 2 days logged into my machine (He took over the machine and ran the install and conversion himself and also gave up as nothing would work). I the middle of all this sometimes the mouse stops working and everything needing to be done in Windows must be accomplished by use of the keyboard (very difficult). The 4.0 upgrade version/build used was Parallels-Desktop-4.0.3540.209168. Am running an iMac that is approximately 1.5 years old with nothing strange or unusual about it (Just a plain vanilla machine) (24" screen, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 Ghz processor, 3Ghz Memory, Upgraded video card (NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT). Why is this happening and will there be fixes to these problems or do I need to ask for a refund? Very Very Very disappointed.
