After purchasing parallels, I downloaded the .dmg file to install it. The .dmg file does mount and I'm able to extract the intstaller, uninstaller, and instructions. When I extract and open the installer, it checks for updates for 2-3 seconds. Then I get an error message saying

    "unable to start installation"

"Makes sure you are running the installation from the correct .dmg file"

I have since tried to re-download the .dmg file ~8 times in the last 2 days, but I always get the same message. Frustrating

Shut down Mac OS, and start, make sure there is no CD/DVD in CD/DVD-rom and dmg mounted and start installation

    Got it

Got it. I assumed I was supposed to extract the installer from the disk mount before running it. Turns out I was just supposed to run it from within the disk mount.

    Thanks
