I recently updated to parallels 4.0, and since then, when my host is connected to a VPN via the Cisco VPN, the internet stops working on the guest (windows xp) machine. DNS seems to work fine, but it looks like routing seems to be the issue... The internet will work fine if the VPN is disconnected. The virtual machine is using 'Shared Networking.' Note - this EXACT same configuration worked fine with parallels 3. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks.

The difference is that my Host OS is what has the vpn installed... All traffic should go through that device, but it doesnt seem to...

    Cisco VPN Client 4.9.01 (0100)

Ahh, sorry I misread. I have found that the guest OS is only able to do any meaningful networking, if it connected as host network when vpn is on. Using a guest with bridged and the host vpn on seems to break the guests ability to get out to the network.

This is kind of strange, but the fix for me was:

    1. On the guest machine, if installed, uninstallt he cisco vpn client
    2. Install the cisco vpn client on the guest machine

Yes - resinstalling the GUEST VPN caused the internet to work while the HOST machine was connected to a VPN. No idea why - but it works...

I am having the same problems. Cisco VPN is no longer working after the upgrade to Parallels 4. No traffic is being routed via the virtual adapter. I am currently in the process of reinstalling the Cisco software and will post back.

This is not good, Parallels! I have had nothing but problems migrating to v4. I am very close to requesting a refund for v4 and going back to v3.

OK, I have now reinstalled Cisco VPN and all my certificates and connection entries. It is now working again.

    What a nuisance.
