The general release version will consistantly do a KP if you do something that unloads a kext module. I am on a dual core mac mini, running tiger 10.4.7 with 2Gig of ram. The VM is running win XP home SP2 with 256M memory, USB auto connection disabled. I can KP it by simply disconnecting my video ipod while the VM is running. Yes, I do 'eject' the ipod first, and it's USB is not connected to the VM. As soon as I physically unplug it, bang!, KP panic(cpu 1 caller 0x0019CADF): Unresolved kernel trap (CPU 1, Type 14=page fault), registers: CR0: 0x8001003b, CR2: 0x00000000, CR3: 0x00d2c000, CR4: 0x000026a0 EAX: 0x00000000, EBX: 0x058a3800, ECX: 0x3b5e8896, EDX: 0x058a3800 ESP: 0x00000000, EBP: 0x24dbbba4, ESI: 0xe00002ed, EDI: 0x00000000 EFL: 0x00010286, EIP: 0x3b5e88d0, CS: 0x00000008, DS: 0x24db0010 Backtrace, Format - Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0x24dbba34 : 0x128b5e (0x3bc46c 0x24dbba58 0x131bbc 0x0) 0x24dbba74 : 0x19cadf (0x3c18e4 0x1 0xe 0x3c169c) 0x24dbbb24 : 0x197c7d (0x24dbbb38 0x24dbbba4 0x3b5e88d0 0x4430048) 0x24dbbb30 : 0x3b5e88d0 (0x4430048 0x4430010 0x4430010 0x24db0010) 0x24dbbba4 : 0x50125d (0x58a3800 0xe00002ed 0xe00002ed 0x2) 0x24dbbc04 : 0x8c4493 (0x392b000 0x39d6b00 0xe0004050 0x0) 0x24dbbca4 : 0x8c4836 (0x392b000 0x3a88494 0xe0004050 0x0) 0x24dbbce4 : 0x8c49b3 (0x392b000 0x3a7b080 0x0 0xe0004050) 0x24dbbd44 : 0x8c4a67 (0x392b000 0x6 0x0 0x3) 0x24dbbd74 : 0x501127 (0x392b000 0x6 0x0 0x3) 0x24dbbdd4 : 0x8c4493 (0x392b000 0x39d6b00 0xe00002ed 0x8) 0x24dbbe74 : 0x8c4d4b (0x392b000 0x3a8828c 0x0 0x0) 0x24dbbed4 : 0x8c4d9f (0x392b000 0x0 0x0 0x1aec) 0x24dbbef4 : 0x8be212 (0x392b000 0x0 0x4602e58 0x38dde90) 0x24dbbf14 : 0x38dd6d (0x392b000 0x0 0x1 0x374488) 0x24dbbf64 : 0x38cf19 (0x39ac000 0x135d18 0x0 0x39be990) Backtrace continues... Hello, Your system crashed inside OSX USB routines. Parallels Desktop is supposed to have no OSX interaction with USB "auto connection" disabled. Does it happen with any other device ? Does this happen without Parallels Desktop running ? Did your report this crash Apple ? Please, provide us additional info on this. Regards, Max
I have removed the ipod on many occasions without any problem. Parallels was not running those times. Twice, with parallels running, removing the ipod caused an immediate KP. I haven't tried removing any other usb devices while parallels is running, I suppose I could and see what happens. I'm very nervous about kernal panics though, they can lead to file system corruption.
