Has anyone gotten either the newest Solaris (6 06) or at least 10 to run on a MacBook Pro?
I get it installed but the mousr driver never seems to work. I'm using a Apple mighty mouse and no driver in Solaris I try works.
Has anyone gotten this to run with a mighty moues or even the built in trackpad mouse?

    TIA,
    Peter

I did. 6_06 works fine for me. Both 1_06 and 6_06 do have strange way to lockup when left idle for a while. Not sure if it is Solaris problem or Parallels.
Parallels guys you have any input on this idle/lock issue.

Beside this lockup when idle for 20 min or so everything else works fine. I also have Sun C++ tools installed on it as well.

    Hi Peter,

I had the same problem on my 20" imac. I couldn't get the mouse working at all during installation. So instead I performed a text based installation (I tihnk it was option 4 - text based console installation), and once that was complete, setup networking and ftp'ed my old xorg.conf file. After logging in/out it now works fine.

I've not had this problem with Solaris 10 01/06 or any of the numerous Nevada builds I've tried, but the workaround above should work !

I'm still trying to find an xorg file that works at 1440x900 or 1680x1050, the last one I tried, it rebooted my imac !

    Regards

    Richard

    Richard,
Thanks for the tip, unfortunately I don't have an old conf file to xfer over. I've tried the text setup and unfortunately I am not getting anywhere. I have no way to navigate the steup program to reconfigure.
Looks like I'm SOL! Too bad I guess...

    Thanks,
    Peter

thank you for posting your xorg.conf. I got that much working before. Did you managed to run @ 1680x1050? I do not see it in your config file?

    Display 1650 x 1050 on MBP-17 Using xorg

    Check out other forum threads:
    1. "Solaris on MacBookPro"
    http://forums.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=249&highlight=solaris

    2. "1600x1050 Fullscreen Resolution?"

    3. "1680x1050 in beta5 + xorg"
    http://forums.parallels.com/thread1142.html

Based on the information from these threads, I was able to config my MBP-17 to display at 1650x1050. Worked on both Solaris 10 1/06 and 1/06.

**Importantly, during the installation, you must answer YES when prompted to look at the card database and the choose "0 --> Generic Vesa compatible option" - see first thread for more info.
