I installed Windows 98 on a Mac mini Core Duo. I'm stuck with the lowest possible display settings, as I'm consigned to using a generic, all-encompassing driver. Has anyone had any luck in getting anything higher than 640 by 480 resolution with 16 colors? If so, how? Once this problem is gone, Parallels will be fantastic!

yes. Install parallel tools. To do this: open parallels, start your win 98 VM. goto the VM menu in the parallels menu bar and select "Install Parallels Tools…".
This should install a better graphics driver and (after restart) mean you go to higher resolutions with 24 bit colour.
