Can anyone explain how to get Ubuntu (6.06) to run at 1280x800 rather than the full screen resolutions? In addition, I am also having trouble where the Mac cursor appears while navagating full screen under a VM. The cursor for mac only appears when I click on a link, or right click or something. Any help would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
Isn't 1280X800 the fullscreen of your MacBook? And to enter fullscreen is Alt+Enter To exit fullscreen is Ctrl+Alt
Hi there has been a discussion regarding that topic: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=1116&highlight=screen+resolution+xorg the following answers helped me to config x, but with the price, that the kybd is now off, as it's all generic instead of MB and SwissGerman (for me). Changing in Ubuntu 6.0.6 generated errors…
1) Add 1280x800 to the Custom Resolutions for your VM (The VM must be off to do this) 2) Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Find the resolution list (should be near the bottom, labelled "Modes" IIRC). Add 1280x800 to that list in the same format (There's a list for each depth, so you'll need to add it to all of them, or at least the one you use, which is likely 24 or 32. Some folks needed to remove all the other resolutions, YMMV) Save and reboot.
