Okay, Parallels and Windows XP are both installed and working.

Problem, I put a cd in the drive (cd-rom, not dvd-rom) and expect Windows XP to recognize it. It doesn't. I go to MY COMPUTER -- there is a floppy drive (which my Mac doesn't actually have) and a D drive -- on that is a cd-icon and it is called something with some number, etc.... it is the INSTALL disc. If I click it, it opens the XP window asking if I want to install XP (and a few other choices... of course, it IS already installed!).

So, I try to eject it, but nothing happens.

What's going on here? What should I do... am I doing something wrong? Can Parallels not enable XP to recognize Apple's cd-rom drive, etc.?

Do you have Parallels set to use the real drive, or an image in the options?

If you installed off an image file, and did not change the settings to use the real drive this would be the result.

    Thank You!

Thanks very much... that was the issue. I didn't realize that needed to be changed back, but it makes perfect sense now!
