Just a basic question for someone about to adopt Parallels (as soon as the MAC PRO situation is stable):

I've got xp loaded via Boot Camp in a FAT 32 partition. When I install Parallels, will I have to trash that partition and re-install everything (XP and applications?)

Yes. The virtual hardware configuration is different, and Parallels currently can only run from a virtual disk. The advantage of the latter is that it is a sparse file - even, if you allocate a large amount, it will only use what is needed.

The downside is that Parallels is slower for disk intensive tasks (such as compiling in Visual Dev.) It also does not (yet?) support fast 3D graphics for DirectX or OpenGL.

I find, I use both depending on application.
