    Hi,

I am trying to connect a Nokia E61 phone into the Parallels virtual PC using the USB port in an Intel Mac Mini. When I connect it in Disk mode I have no problems, but when I want to connect it in PC Suite mode it constantly gives me the following message:

USB Device that you are trying to connect to the virtual machine is being used by another process. Wait 5-10 seconds, then try to connect the device again....

There is no other process running in the Mac. Any ideas?

    Kind Regards,

    Guillermo

    USB Connection and Nokia E6x

I have the same issues described earlier. My Nokia E60 will not connect, Parallels alerts with the same error message as Guillermo mentioned.

It would be really nice if we could fix this issue.

Anyone out there who has successfully done this?

    cheers,

    Chris

    From this thread:

    http://forum.parallels.com/thread3646.html

    Do this:

    - open your startup drive window. Go to System/Library/Extensions/
    - in there, find the file named IOUSBFamily.kext
    - right click on that file and choose 'Copy', then right click on the Desktop and click 'Paste'
This just makes a backup incase something goes wrong.
    - now back to System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext
    - this is not really a file, but a folder with contents. Just right click (or control click) on this file, and choose 'Show package contents'
    - now another window will open with a folder named 'Contents' in it.
    - navigate to Contents/Plugins/
    - inside that folder are the files that you should take out.
    - Move any file with USBCDC in the filename out onto the desktop (I had 8 of them)
    - and that's all. Now just restart, and launch Parallels and enjoy no more 'wait 5-10sec'!

I tried modifying the Kernel Extensions and was happy when the Nokia Software updater started the process.

However, suddenly the phone disconnected and when I checked, it gave a name as "BBD Installer". I selected this device and the update continued.

As it was ending, it disconnected the phone and since then the phone has been a brick. No response no matter what I try.

Ended up doing what I wanted to avoid -- went to a Nokia Service Centre and have given my phone. I hope they will either resurruct the same, hopefully with the new firmware.

I still dont know what side effects modifying the Kernel Extensions are going to have on my MacBook Pro.

    Cheers,
    Krish

I tried this as well .. but no luck at least until I gave the phone to the NSC. Let's hope it comes back to life because I feel handicapped without it ;)

    Cheers,
    Krish
