Hey, I have a 3g datacard that, surprise surprise, only works in windows. I have it working in my VM, but want to share that connection to my mac. anyone know how to make that work? Feel free to link me to a howto or a search, however i've tried with all kinds of keywords and come up short. Thanks, James
I don't see why a 3g data card should not work in the Mac I had a lot of trouble with my TalkTalk dsl connection until I found i had two logins one for the router and another for the WAN the telephone help line was not much use the fix was to delete all network preferences and let the Mac OS find the ethernet connection >> A Vodafone spokesperson was unable to say when a commercial launch might take place, or whether pricing for the product would differ from that of the PC version of the data card, which has been on the market since April. According to sources familiar with the situation, the software used for this product has had to be given a substantial overhaul for the Mac version because it was originally written for an Intel-based laptop. << in 2004 http://news.zdnet.co.uk/communications/0,1000000085,39155927,00.htm Vodafone HSDPA/3G data card System requirements for Apple Macintosh * MAC OS X (10.2.6 and above) * Type ii PC-card slot * PowerBook G4 - 15 or 17 inch new card on 22 November 2006 http://www.macworld.co.uk/mac/news/index.cfm?newsid=16540 The device ships with software for Mac OS X and Intel Macs. http://www.vodafone.com.au/business....jsp?gs=business&hd=bussol&st=laptop&ss=modem Apple Mac requirements: * Standard USB 2.0 interface * OS X 10.3.9 Jaguar or higher http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispat...ageLabel=template09&pageID=BS_0201&tabIndex=3 try for a free exchange with the old Hugh W
Mine is tmobile, and i have to use a usb adapter to get it to work; the macbookpro doesn't have a full pcmcia slot. so given the lack of usb drivers for the device on the mac, the card isn't recognized so i have to boot parallels and share the connection via it..... which is trickier than it seems :/ best, james
I have the same problem, I have a Samsung Blackjack and it doesn't support Internet Sharing with the Mac (Internet Sharing permits connection to internet while charging battery) and only works with Windows. I have been able to connect using parallels but can't seem to find a way to share that connection with my Mac. I am able to connect with the Blackjack to the internet with my Mac, but it doesn't charge the battery in the process, this only works in Windows and it is why I would like to know if this is possible.
