When I boot up any VM (Windows varieties, Ubuntu and CentOS), I get "Error writing to sound device! Loopback device will be used!".

I did some searching on the forums and found a couple of other posts about this, but no definitive solution.

This has also been reported in the Linux/Windows forum happening in Workstation.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

No one has any ideas I take it, I was hoping someone knew how to fix this rather than escalating to support.

I am having issues in 1970 where sound will just drop out of the VM and will not return unless i reboot the VM. I am still using 1970 because 3304 was hard locking my MacPro every time i powered on my VM right at where it said "Hard Drives".

Same here.no sound with parallels 1970 on a 10.4.8 system.
What's really amazing is that my virtual windows XP is showing sound device correctly.
