thank you Tim the fix worked a treat but my reply to you bounced twice going to file that mail very safely as I might need it tomorrow regards Hugh === Hello Hugh, Thank you for contacting Parallels Support. Your image is not broken, just erroneously blocked by Parallels Desktop. This defect will be fixed very shortly. For now, here's what you need to do to remove the lock and let your VM start again: Solution: 1. Make sure Parallels Desktop is not running. 2. Open Macintosh HD->Applications->Utilities->Terminal 3. Run exactly the following command (better copy-paste it from this letter into Terminal as is): rm -i `find ~/Library/Parallels/ -name *.lock -print` 4. Terminal prompts you to confirm the deletion of the file. Make sure that the file has "lock" at the end and confirm the deletion by pressing "Y". 5. Start your virtual machine. You shouldn't see the "already in use" error anymore. Please let me know how it goes. Thank you in advance.
2 or 3 MacBook Pro sessions later was locked again today so repeated the above and it works again OK Hugh W
