Hi, I've got Paralles running fine on my intel based MBP. I've installed an online game that I play on a PC, and when I log in to the game I get this error... "DISPLAY INITIALIZATION ERROR" "Renderer Creation Error: HAL Device not available for Default Adapter" Now I know some people have gotten this game to work using BootCamp, so I'm hoping there is some tweak I can perform to the Hardware Abstraction Layer? Also, I wonder if the message is specifically dealing with a video driver incompatibility issue? can I download the specific driver for the video card in my MBP, into the Windows XP VM? Anyone have any suggestions, or seen a similar message when trying to run an online game? thanks,
If you mention the game, someone may have tried it. (I didn't since I haven't tried any games). The only part of your question I can answer definitively is that no, you can't install a hardware video driver in your VM. The Parallels tools driver is the only one that will work (at this time, of course -- when hardware virtualization comes to peripherals, it may be a different story, but of course at that point you would need a new computer to take advantage of it).
After reading more in this forum, I believe the error message I am getting stems more from a Direct X problem. The online game (entropia universe) i'm trying to play, makes pretty heavy use of Direct X, and at the moments Parallels doesnt seem to support this.
