After using Parallels and WinXp for a few days, I find it is now refusing to startup. The window goes black and freezes the computer. Do I need to reinstall? If so do I need to reinstall XP too?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I think the first thing to check is anything you installed in OSX between the time it worked and the time it didn't. There is some software that doesn't play nice with Parallels.

If there's nothing new, reinstalling Parallels is harmless and fairly quick. Uninstall it first, then install. Your VMs and settings will be preserved.

If that doesn't work, create a new VM and install XP. If that doesn't work, you have a corrupt OSX installation. If it does, you can attach your old XP virtual disk as a second drive on your new VM and copy any data you need to the new C drive. If you copy the activation file (I've forgotten its name) you probably won't have to reactivate.

    Good luck.
