HI - I am trying to install XP on Parallels using Build 1970 on my Mac Book Pro 2.33 15 inch/Intel C2D - and I keep getting the error message "Installation Failed. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" This happens after it tells me to insert the XP CD which is already in the CD/DVD ROM drive and which has been working up til then - Has this happened to others? Do I really have a faulty installation disk? Thanks
Yup, your CD is dead or dying. You may still be able to create an .iso image of it, though. An .iso file is the complete bit-for-bit image of a CD or DVD. It can be mounted and read like an actual physical CD. See this for help creating this kind of file: http://homepage.mac.com/geerlingguy/mac_support/mac_help/pages/0023-convert_dmg_img_iso.html
