Can someone briefly explain what "parallels mobile" on the iPhone does? It doesn't appear to do anything on my iPhone.

    Managing Virtual Machines From iPhone

With the Parallels iPhone application, you can start, stop, and suspend your virtual machine or simply view its desktop right from your iPhone when your Mac is out of reach. All you need is to connect your iPhone to the Internet, launch the Parallels iPhone application, and establish a connection with your Mac.

Before you try to connect your iPhone to Parallels Desktop on your Mac, enable the Allow connections from iPhone option on the General pane of the Parallels Desktop Preferences.

    Installing Parallels iPhone application
The Parallels iPhone application can be downloaded for free from the App Store and is installed like any other iPhone application. Just search for "Parallels Mobile" at the App Store.

Disclaimer: Apple takes a certain amount of time to verify an application for publication. If you cannot yet find "Parallels Mobile" at the App Store, check again in a few days.

    Starting Parallels iPhone application
You can start the Parallels iPhone application by clicking its icon on the iPhone Home screen.

Adding your Mac to the Parallels Servers list
Start the Parallels iPhone application and click the add button .
Specify the IP address of your Mac, your user name, and the password. Click the Save button.
Note: The computer you are trying to connect to should be turned on and have a stable Internet connection.

When the connection to your Mac is established, it will be added to the Parallels Servers list.
Viewing and managing your virtual machines
Select your Mac in the Parallels Servers list. This will open a list of virtual machines available on your Mac.
The list of virtual machines displays the names of the virtual machines available on your Mac and the types of operating systems installed in them. The virtual machines that are currently running are indicated by this sign:
Select a virtual machine from the list to see its console window.

The appearance of the virtual machine console window depends on its current state:
If the virtual machine is running, you will see its live screen shot. To refresh the screen shot, click the refresh button .
If the virtual machine is stopped, its screen will be black.
If the virtual machine is suspended or paused, its screen will be dimmed.

For managing your virtual machine, use the toolbar buttons that correspond to the actions you want to perform with this virtual machine:
    - Use this button to start the virtual machine if it is stopped or to shut down it if it is running.
    - Use this button to reset the virtual machine.
    - Use this button to suspend your virtual machine. When the virtual machine is suspended, this button changes its appearance to . Click this button to resume the virtual machine.
    - Use this button to pause the virtual machine. When the virtual machine is paused, this button changes its appearance to . Click this button to resume the virtual machine.
    - Use this button to refresh the virtual machine live screen shot.
To go back to the list of virtual machines, click Virtual Machines.

    Hi,

I use parallels to run a couple of stock/forex platforms only available for PC on my Mac. Using this Parallels/Iphone mobile integration, is it possible to use an iphone to remotely access my platform and add a buy order, for example?

Many platforms offer a Windows Mobile version of their software but don't offer anything for an Iphone. However, the ability to manage the platform on an Iphone would be handy if this were possible.

If I wanted to turn off my computer, I'd just turn it off before I left home...

I haven't a clue as to using an IP to manage a PC program via Parallels. However, you MIGHT be able to do it directly from your IP (buy/sell stocks). I have. What I did was go to my brokerage account and place orders there. I save the page as a home page bookmark. It's not nearly as easy as doing it with a computer, but when I'm somewhere without my laptop, I can still operate.
