I am not an experienced Windows user. However, I have had to purchase and install Vista in order to run our payroll software. So please bare with me and my inexperience using Vista.

I have the latest version of Parallels and Vista installed. At home and the office we have the same printer, a HP Color LaserJet 2840. Both printers are connected via Enet to a Wireless router (D-Link at home and a 2Wire at work). I was able to install the HP software and connect to the printer at home with no problems. However, I can't seem to connect to the office printer.

I'll go to the Vista Control Panels and select Add Printer. It gives you two options, one of which is to select a network printer. This is where it fails to recognize a printer on the network.

Can someone help me make the necessary changes and/or steps in order to get the office printer to be recognized so I can add it. Thanks!

install it under MAC first then under windows and install it using the ip address you will have no problem.
i have 14 network printers all types and brands from phasers to ones i made my own drivers for.
you can even use an ancient jet direct hub and get it to work .

installing network wireless remote or web printers

install it under MAC first ( ip or apple talk mac should find it) I do this first because i like everything shared otherwise then under windows and install it using the ip address you will have no problem.

you made to assign the specific ip in your router and printer via the setup disk for both or log into the router create an ip the log into printer create the same ip so on set weather you want to access it from any place ( example i can use mine from my cell in a dif state) set the security and it shouldnt be any more problems. and if you find your self doing something over and over create a bat file with the programs and switches you want to run and the process save it you then run it alone or via start up.

I was able to get the printer's IP address from the router's config. I then used that IP when adding the printer and it worked. Thanks for the help.
