I'm using the latest build of Parallels Desktop for Mac, and Windows XP SP3 on my MacBook Pro.

Using FileMaker 9 or FileMaker 10, the Shift key does not work for constraining the dragging of an object either horizontally or vertically. The Shift key works correctly for typing text, the Control key modifies the dragging of an object correctly also. I've tested this issue on one other application under Parallels, and the shift key works as expected.

I've ruled out my wireless keyboard connected to my MacBook Pro, as the problem appears using either keyboard. It's not a FileMaker and Windows issue, as the Shift works correctly on my Windows computer. I've tried to rule out as many other variables as I can, and it appears to be an issue between FileMaker 9/10 and Parallels Desktop.

Another thread did seem to indicate some issues with modifier keys, the suggested remedy was "downgrading" to Parallels 3 and/or disabling all the keyboard shortcuts in Preferences, which I've done to no avail.

I need help with this issue, as I need FileMaker to work under Parallels.

    Thanks,

    Neal

    Problem Resolved

At Tech Support's suggestion, I uninstalled Parallels Tools and rebooted. With the Tools NOT installed, I launched FileMaker once again to test the issue. It was at this point that I discovered that [CTRL] + [Shift] was assigned to be my keyboard Right Click, which I don't need nor use anymore.

Upon disabling this setting in Parallels Preferences, the problem was resolved. Parallels Tools was installed once again, and the keys work in FileMaker as expected.
