Hi, I have Parallels 4.0 installed on OSX and I've had the following issue that I've been unable to resolve.

I was running 3.0 build 3810 with a Vista guest OS and tools installed-- everything was working great.

Last night I updated my Mac to OSX v10.5.7, Parallels kept working fine but I noticed the updater was starting but it's window would disappear after checking for an update.. But the icon remained in the dock. I surmised there might be a Parallels update, and sure enough, there was build 3844 when I went to the website.

I downloaded build 3844 and installed it. Rebooted the computer for good measure.

When I started up Parallels, it wanted to install tools. The tools install ran for a bit and various parts of it seemed to be working, but eventually it gave an error message and failed. I tried the menu option to install tools manually, but it gave the error "An error occurred while installing Parallels tools, click OK to restart and try install again.."

Rebooting the VM and trying to install tools again fails with the same error over and over. In add/remove programs there is no entry for Parallels Tools anymore.

Is there a reasonable way to salvage this guest OS install and get tools working again? Or am I stuck reinstalling a fresh Vista guest (and office, with its 78 billion updates, sigh.)

    Thanks for any help!

    Sorry-- I stated I was running 3.0 built 3810, but I meant 4.0.

    I apologize for any confusion.

    The same to me.
    I updated to ParallelsDesktop-parallels-en_US-4.0.3844.408728

    Host: 10.5.7 (MacBook2,1 2 GHz 2 GB 667 MHz)
    Guest: XP SP3

I also updated an iMac (3,06 GHz 4 GB 800 MHz) and it worked fine, so I do not know what is wrong.
Both with the same Host OS and Guest OS.

    Regards,
