    Hi,

I have recently installed a Windows XP guest OS via Parallels 4.0.

The installation was fine with no problems and everything works fine except for one recurring problem.

Every so often (say once every session), the keys pressed whilst working do not produce the correct response. For example, I was recently browsing the internet and when trying to enter a URL into the browser address field the keys pressed did not produce the correct characters on screen. But rather, some keys produced the wrong character (say an obscure ascii-code character) or produced a window action, eg. close window. It seems as if each key suddenly creates either the wrong response or that key's secondary response which is normally activated by pressing the key with either Ctrl or Alt.

Has anyone had the same problem, or does anyone recognise what's happening and knows how to resolve it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards.....Jason

    Hello,

Regarding your issue you need to uninstall and reinstall Parallels Tools once by following the below steps :

    1) On the windows side go to Control Panel => Click on Security Center and turn off Windows Firewall and also Anti virus.

    2) Please disable the Parallel Internet Security (Kaspersky).

    3) Go to Control Panel => Go to Add or remove Programs => Remove Parallel tools completely.

    4) After the Parallel tools are removed then launch Parallels Desktop, on the Menu bar click on Virtual machine.

    5) Click on install Parallel tools => Click on Continue and proceed with the installation.

    6) Kindly keep a check if you get the confirmation message that " Parallel tools are successfully installed."

    7) Restart the Windows Operating System and the Mac and check for the keyboard`s response.

If the issue is not resolved please follow the steps mentioned in the below article :
