I've successfully used Windows XP through VM Fusion for some time. Now trying to migrate Fusion virtual machine to Parallels. I get the following error message: "No operating system is installed on the virtual hard disks or Parallels Transporter is unable to make the operating system bootable. The disks will be migrated to Parallels as virtual data disks."

    What to do?

I would suggest to try the following:

    1. Make sure that VMware tools are uninstalled from the virtual machine. I would suggest to check for the antivirus software as well, better to disable or even uninstall them in case they might be inteferring.

    2. If you would still see the same message, try migrating the virtual machine as a virtual data disk.

    3. After migrating start Parallels Transporter (Applications - Parallels) once again.

    4. Select the "migrate virtual machine" and set the path to the .hdd

    5. Create a virtual machine and set the path to the .hdd file.

    Nope. That didn't work.

I don't understand why this is happening. I had no problem making the Fusion to Parallels migration on my MacBook Pro.
