    Hello,

Just purchased Parellels Desktop and was a bit disappointed that I can't get Parallels Tools installed on any Linux Distros. I've tried Suse, Ubuntu and Fedora without success. Is there any distro that works out of the box with Parlallels Desktop 4.0.3844? Even if its a slightly older distro.

    Thanks

I have installed OpenSuse 11.0 and Fedora 10. Both work perfectly well with the 3844-release of parallels desktop (tools installed)

Cheers Samuel for the info. I tried Ubuntu 8.04.3 (available from the Ubuntu download page) and it worked fine.
Finally Parallels Tools is installed. Heres a wee list, it might be some help to others...

    Parallel Tools installs ok
    Ubuntu 8.04.3
    Suse 11.0
    Fedora 10

    Parallels Tools dosen't install
    Ubuntu 9.04
    Fedora 11
    Suse 11.1

    Try Debian 5

    Hi,

I have a working version of Debian 5 (Lenny) with Parallels Tools installed. It took a bit of fiddling to get it installed, but if you follow these steps, you too can have it work on Lenny.

To install Parallels tools on Lenny

Make an iso of the Parallels Tools CD (within the VM in home directory)

unmount CD (or Parallels_Tools_iso) from VM

Open a terminal window and do the following commands:

    su
    mount Parallels_Tools.iso -t iso9660 /cdrom -o loop
    cd /cdrom
    sh install

    Close terminal and reboot

    All the best,

    Icy
