Task bar missing in Coherence after 10.6 install

Everything is working after installing 10.6 except for Coherence mode. When I enable it, the task bar flashes for a split second then disappears. I click in the area of the bar but it doesn't appear. I see balloon messages appear from where the system tray should be so it thinks it is there.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Parallels Tools multiple times but it doesn't help.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Does menu Applications->Show Task Bar help?

 

That was it. I've never had to use that menu option so I didn't know it was there.
