Hi, When I start up Parallels I can get my desktop however my keyboard and mouse don't work to access any of my folders and icons. Assistance is appreciated. Na
Hello, Please follow the steps below in regards with the issue: 1. Please uninstall Parallels using the latest 3846 build. http://www.parallels.com/download/desktop/ But remember that you need to uninstall both application and application settings while uninstalling Parallels Desktop application. 2. Then install Parallels desktop build 3846. After installing you will be prompted to create a new virtual machine. Cancel that page and go to File -> Open and choose the appropriate .pvm file in Documents/Parallels. Also, install Parallels Tools. Please update me with the status of the issue.
Ok i did as instructed, however the pvm that i had created with the older build seemed to crash the mac a lot, so made a new one (custom -> boot camp) Booted in to it, and it said in the status bar of parallels: "Parallel tools are outdated, please wait for update or manually update" So I waited for 12 hours, then when i checked it this morning: "Parallel tools are not installed..." So I selected install parallel tools from the VM menu... its now been another half an hour.... Please help
I just purchased parallels 4 for running boot camp partition, and ive struggled for the last 3 days to get the mouse and keyboard to work, removed vm's, reinstalled parallels, latest version/cd version, one thing that is weird: the keyboard works when windows is not loaded - i can use it to choose between safemode etc.. ive gone in to boot camp natively and set up two hardware profiles as well (boot camp and parallels) disabled antivirus and firewalls and spywares, set permissions for all registry keys to Everyone, (One of the problems i thought may be because when it boots in the vm it tries to install a driver or something, but the stupid windows signing driver thing pops up, no keyboard or mouse means i cant press ok!) and ive had no luck at turning off the driver warning either. I copied the parallel tools win iso to the boot camp, and installed it natively a couple of hundred times to no avail, uninstalled the keyboard and mouse (nothing special - just standard HID ones) and reinstalled them, This is driving me up the wall - whatever happened to the "Just Works (tm)" philosophy ive grown to love.... i tried every possible way to disable driver signing (except for hacking sysinstall.dll - i did try but couldnt find the values mentioned - D.r.i.v.e.r.S.i.g.n etc.. in a hex editor) Ive set group policies, changed security settings to absolute minimal (read - no security). Ive turned on autologin, im running a white intel MacBook OSX 10.5.6 dual core 1 gig ram Ive also noticed that parallels crashes osx a lot (sorry im not more help here, but the error message is a pretty snazzy "You need to restart your computer, hold the power button for several seconds or press the reset button" - dunno where/if there are any logs HELP ME!!! Im going nuts over this!!!
