I use a Netgear powerline XE103 - XE104 combination for local area networking to avoid wireless networking problems. Netgear includes poweline encryption software for use with Windows XP, SP3. The software installs fine, I can connect to the internet using the Ethernet port and the powerline adapters on my MacBook (2008 model, running Snow Leopard). The software however does not "see" the powerline adapters. All it sees is the local area connection between the Mac and Parallels. Hence I cannot change the network password. How can I (temporarily) have the Windows XP take control over the ethernet port, so I can set the encryption and security settings. Thanks PD
Powerline adapter - bridged networking Bridged networking - please provide brief instructions on how to set that up Thanks PD
If I understand the situation correctly, Netgear adapter is connected with Mac using Ethernet-cable. Please open the VM Configuration -> NetworkAdapter and change Networking Type to Bridged. Most likely, you should select "Ethernet 1" adapter in the drop-down list
