Hi! I would like to have two different mac login users use the same My Boot Camp virtual machine. I tried to log in as a different user than the one who original setup the configuration and when I double clicked on the .pvs file - it reported something along the line of not being able to open the virtual machine (paraphrasing - i didn't take snapshot of the error dialog box) and to contact Parallels Technical Support. I really would like to share my virtual machine with another mac user, how can I do this? My virtual machine files are in a directory that is accessible and has the right permissions for both users to read and write.
Hi! thanks for the followup. I look at the link you posted and a bit confused. I've read this report before and it seems to focus on performance benchmarks. I didn't see anything in the report in regards to how to configure a virtual machine to be used by two different users on my mac.
oops - I thought the link in your sig was the link you wanted me to check out - found the article and let's see how changing permissions goes...
(for some reason my posts are not updating this thread - i really would like to edit them - instead of posting multiple times...) i spoke too soon - i went back to my original user who created the Windows 7 RC virtual machine and it hung on resuming the machine :/ I forced a shut down and restarted. This seemed to work. Are there any restrictions in regards to not being able to suspend a machine on one user and resuming it on another? for the record, I'm testing this method with a temp virtual machine (ie. Windows 7 RC) before I try it on My Boot Camp install!
Is there a list of known side effects for this method? I had a lot of issues getting my network to come back in using the original user who created the virtual machine. Windows 7's Networking Diagnostic Tool came up, attempted to resolve the issue by reconfiguring my "Local Network Connection 2" and I had to force quit Parallels (5.0.8538 beta) and restart my machine. It hung again and had to force shut down the machine and start it again. The Networking Diagnostic Tool came up again, did the same resolution and the machine didn't hang this time and Internet Explorer can access web pages again. Is there something I need to know about in regards to how my network configuration is handled in Parallels when allowing multiple users to access one virtual machine - in this case, Win 7 RC?
