I downloaded the x86_64 installation DVD of Fedora Core 12. When I try to install it as a guest, I get this error message after selecting the keyboard type:

I don't understand why Fedora can't find my IDE hard drive. I tried setting it to SCSI and got the same message.

Please, create problem report when you'll see that message next time (via Help->Report a problem) and write its number here.

I've checked on PD5 and FC12 x86_64 installed without any problems.

I used custom install from FC12 DVD.

I just sent report 917528. This is a cool reporting feature. I like how I can send a screenshot of the guest.

I'm having this problem with PD version 4.0.3846.

Interestingly, Fedora Linux 11 works just fine.

Looks like there was a problem in PD4, you can try to use kernel parameter pci=noacpi at boot. This may help.

And better to upgrade to PD5 ;)

PS: Same issue for Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64 and looks like for all modern kernels.

pci=noacpi fixed the problem. Is there something wrong with ACPI support in PD4?

Yes, there were some bugs with root PCI bus.

How do I set kernel options when it boots?

Boots from DVD or from hard disk?

Are these bugs going to be fixed in version 4?

They are fixed in PD5, but looks like will be not backported to PD4.
