Yes to all. You can disable the option in the Parallels configuration editor. This must be done before the guest is started. Use Edit->virtual machine->shared folders->uncheck global shared folders.

Are planning to support Windows Vista for your final build? I used this RC and install Windows Vista with it. The installation went well. But, once I shut down Windows Vista and brought down virtural machine, I was not able to bring up Windows Vista in virtaul machine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Linux RH 4 2.6.9-34.EL after boot on MBP 17" 2G RAM allocated 256 MB RAM to Linux , Parallels Memory set to Automatic takes about 40-50%. CPUon Both cores in MAC. I am booting linux in init 3 and I did turned of as many services as possible. Linux shows idle 99-100%

Looks like Windows, Linux and Solaris has the same problem. Please Please fix this as reported by other people in this thread. The battery go down really really fast.

    New parallels corrects ActiveSync?

    Hi Tim,

Sorry to bother you. new parallels user,,, removed Boot Camp because of issues, especially with External Monito reliability.

paralles is super so far, however

I am having one problem with parallels:

Active Sync, used in Windows to sync a Dell Axim x5 Pocket PC.

Does not connect all the time and when it does and launches sync, Windows does a re-boot.

Any ideas? It's Active Sync 3.7

    thanks again,

    Cannot get Windows XP running?

I am a new Parallels Desktop for Mac user, I bought and installed both 1970 and XP... worked fine.

Now, I want to run 3120. It seems to install okay, but when I try to install XP, I get: (black screen)

"Boot from hard drive ... failed"
    "Boot from CD/DVD-ROM drive... failed"
    "Boot from floppy drive... "
    "Non-System disk or disk error"

It's the same disk I just installed in 1970! I've tried every combination of Uninstalling everything and re-installing... Windows XP won't run for me using 3120.

    Anybody help?

Use the Parallels Disk Image tool to make an ISO image of the CD and use that instead of the physical CD during the installation procedure.

Okay,, used Parallels Image Tool to create ISO of Windows XP disk on my Desktop -no problem.

Now... open Parallels --> Windows Express Installation --> OS Installation Assistant.. can't go any further because "ISO" is grayed out and I cannot select it?

You need to use Custom not Express.

Used Custom, nope... still unable to select ISO at OS Installation Assistant dialog box; still grayed out.

(The ISO file doesn't have any extension on the desktop. What extension do ISO files usually have, what should it be.. why doesn't mine??)

I don't know why yours doesn't have an ISO extension but I would think that it should.

Try the Disk Image tool again and make certain it completes.

The common extension is .iso. If yours doesn't have this as an extension you can easily rename it with the Mac Finder tool.

I've used a vmware image and import it to parallels. Everything worked fine except file sharing. When i open the \\pms link on my desktop i see the shared folders but i can't access them. Luckily i can map it as an external drive from Windows. Is there a workaround for this?

When will Parallels Acknowledge the 7B BSOD Problem?

Still not a whisper from the Parallels team about this problem.
    Not a peep.
Not a "Got that, we're looking at it", or a "We already know" or a "More info please", or even a "You idiot, do it this way".

Would someone from Parallels PLEASE at least acknowledge that you read these posts?

    Which posts? How about these:

Ditto on no recognition of external drive with 3120

I've experienced the same problem - upon updated to 3120 external USB drive doesn't show up in My Computer or Disk Management. No problem when using beta3.

I use Parallels in the same way as you and while in the last beta release I had the crashing problem about once per day, I no longer have this problem with the latest release.

In regards to #2, this is a common thing on Windows XP. Every Windows XP install I have ever used that has Office installed simply will not let me turn off the language bar permanently. I don't think this is Parallels related at all.
