After installing the Parallels 5.0 upgrade, I then upgraded to Snow Leopard (updated to 10.6.1) Now, when I try to start Parallels, whether via the icon on the dock, or by directly opening the virtual machine .pvm file, there is no response after the initial "hopping up and down" of the icon on the dock. I do see the following processes: bash-3.2$ ps auxwww|grep Parallels root 147 0.0 0.3 162356 14284 ?? S 2:57pm 0:03.46 /Library/Parallels/Parallels Service.app/Contents/MacOS/prl_disp_service -e --logfile /var/log/prl_disp_service_server.log --pidfile /var/run/prl_disp_service.pid root 132 0.0 0.1 122120 4612 ?? Ss 2:57pm 0:01.06 /Library/Parallels/Parallels Service.app/Contents/MacOS/prl_naptd root 50 0.0 0.0 2435468 808 ?? Ss 2:57pm 0:00.04 /bin/sh /Library/Parallels/Parallels Service.app/Contents/Resources/ParallelsDispatcherService start But nothing shows on my screen. Any ideas? I could could restore to OS X 10.5.8.
Hello, Please uninstall Parallels Desktop and install it again using the .dmg file. It will not affect your virtual machine in any manner.
not able to uninstall bash-3.2$ ls -ld /usr/local drwxrwxr-x 5 root wheel 170 19 Nov 13:05 /usr/local When using the uninstall function from the dmg file, it says there is no install present. Uninstall Failed The Parallels Desktop is not installed. Then installed it again. Restarted. Same thing: Icon moves for a sec, then nothing.
