Want to change to folder icons for the Application Stack and the Windows applications Folder in Finder, Applications? Easy… You can see on my dock I've replaced the stack folder with a windows style folder with the windows logo: Here is the folder Parallels makes in your applications folder for Windows applications: Find the picture you want for each. A PNG works best. Open it in Preview. Chose Edit on the menu and then Select All. Now Copy to the clipboard. Command click or click and hold on the "Windows Applications" folder and then select "Get Info". Click the tiny little icon in the uppermost left-hand corner until it is highlighted blue. Now press Command-V. The icon is now changed. You can do the same for the Application stack with one additional step. Find your virtual machine package. Usually, ~/Documents/Parallels. Command click or click and hold on the "YOURVMNAME.PVM" folder and then select "Get Info" Select whichever PNG you wish to reflect your Application Stacks icon and you are done. I believe both these suggestions survive future Parallels updates.
Chris, Thanks for this. I've been trying to sort this out for ages and gave up. Question for you. How do I go about getting the windows folder to my mac dock? Ideally I'd like to put a windows folder inside my applications folder. So once i got it on the dock, I guess all I have to do it drag it into my applications folder. Another question I'm having difficulty over is how to get the windows application icons changed which are in my mac applications folder? When I look at my windows desktop, they all look fine, but as soon as I switch to my mac desktop, all the windows application icons look the same. You got the answer? I'm running on parallels 4.0. Appreciate any help! T.
