I'm testing Parallels 5 to see if I want to replace VMware Fusion. I have a Windox XP VM that was converted from VMware. The only issue I've noticed so far is that even though I've set the default Internet app for web browsing to be on the Mac (it's Firefox 3.5 on the Mac), instead when I'm testing my email client in Windows (Novell GroupWise 8.01), the links open the Windows Firefox rather than opening in the Mac Firefox. I really haven't tested with any other apps to see if this is only happening in GroupWise. In reality, that's about the only Windows program I run with any regularity. I use the Mac client for myself, but since I provide support for Windows users I frequently have to open the Windows version. I've tried Crystal, Window, Coherence - all the same results. Oh - I did just try Adobe Acrobat v. 6 (full product, not reader) with the same results - web links open in Windows. Am I just misunderstanding what this setting is supposed to do? Thanks, Danita
I have the same problem I have exactly the same problem with Groupwise 8 in Windows XP under Parallels - URLs in the emails I receive open in my Windows Firefox instead of my Mac Firefox even though under Configure - Options - Internet Applications I have Web Pages set to "Open in Mac OS X". This is very annoying since I store all my remembered settings on the Mac side.
So I feel a bit sheepish, because I should have known this. GroupWise 8 has it's own ability to set the browser to use for links within the program. It's under Tools|Options|Environment at the bottom left of the General tab. If that is not set to "default browser" then whatever browser is listed there is a Windows browser and will open no matter how many times I tell Parallels to use Mac as the default browser Danita
