    Greetings.
My install of WinXP SP3 has all sorts of video files, mpegs, avi's, etc...
They all performed just fine under Parallels 4.
After upgrading to Parallels 5, the video performance is terrible; slow playback; video out of sync with audio.
    Some vids don't even play.
I tried playing around with number cpu's, increasing video memory, main memory and nothing has helped.
The only thing that has "helped" is that I turned OFF 3D acceleration.

Has anyone else seen this sort of thing?
Is there a better workaround than turning off 3d acceleration?
If I want to play a game on it, I have to turn 3d acceleration back on.
Also, if I play a vid on the Mac instead, it is perfect.

    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thank you.

    same problem

i use parallels mainly for windows media player and it was much smoother in parallels 4. if there is a scene with much motion there are glitches. i have tried all the memory ideas and no improvement.

    Couldn't agree more

I don't have any solutions. Platform-MBpro, 2.8Ghz, 4GB Vmemory. Older games like Doom 3 will run ok but newer games like Call of Duty, World at War will hardly run unless I turn everything off. I have tried to maximize Vmemory and am using the faster GPM -Nvidia 9600M. The frame rates are really lousy. I am fairly new to the MAC platform.

I haven't had issues to the extent you have - preferring to keep as much content as I can on the Mac side.

Having said that, I did notice some stuttering when playing the old Microsoft Hover! game...

    Thank you for your responses.
It seems I am not the only one.
    Does Parallels know about this?
Does anyone know if an update is expected to fix this?

    Thank you.

What about installing Flip4Mac on the Mac side to watch these clips?

flip 4 mac lacks many of the features of windows media player including easy level controls and fast forwarding clips to the end. flip 4 mac is ok. i bought parallels for the performance of the windows media player and it needs some serious help.

I too am having problems. My problem is slightly different, however it is giving me similar results when playing games - lousy frame rates or just not being able to get pictures at all. My 3d acceleration is on, however on Windows 7, it shows all the 3d stuff as being off and I can't get it on.

    Agreed

I'm waiting for Parallels to come up with a fix.
