Can anyone confirm the news appearing at http://www.powerpage.org/2007/01/mwsf_parallels_update_due_within_a_few_weeks.html along the lines that an upcoming FREE update of Parallels Desktop in a mere matter of weeks will include 3D graphics acceleration ? That would be awesome! Even if it isn't free, I would still upgrade, even if the new version didn't offer anything else. Terrific program, guys!
While I would love it if this were true, I doubt that they would have the release be at a Release Candidate status without having the feature implemented. I doubt 3D support will be included in the next release.
I believe the reality is they are planning to introduce 3d accel during the next BETA. That means, after the release of the current version w/coherent in a few weeks, a new test version will be put out containing 3d acccel. Yes, I'm excited too ...
Everything I've read straight from Parallel's mouth in these forums is that it will be in the next major releases' beta. Not 2.x. The current builds are 2.x builds. It will be in 3.x builds. So even if 3.x Beta 1 is released tomorrow and 2.x (the one in beta right now) is released in a month - it won't be "free".
