    Hi there,

I wish to put Parallels on my MacBook Pro, a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo system with 2 GB RAM. I have been advised by an Apple Reseller that Windows 7 requires four times the power that XP would need.

What I am wondering is whether to put XP Pro on or take the plunge with Windows 7 Pro. If I go with 7 then what issues am I like to encounter? I have to buy Windows either way so which one will work better with this two-year-old MBP? What difficulties are likely to be encounter with Windows 7?

Opinions would be much appreciated before I take the plunge.

    Appreciatively,

    Lynn

You should be fine with that machine, although doubling the RAM will help. I'm running Windows 7 ultimate on an MBAir with 1.6 GHz, 2 GB RAM, and it runs very decently (particularly on the latest build).

    I have a 2006 model MBP (2.33 GHz)

I have 4 GB of ram even with 512mb allocated to the Win 7 VM it worked, it works better with min of 1024 (1 GB).

I would suggest paying and getting more ram. I am guessing your MBP is about the same age as mine? ram is extremely reasonable.
