OK, I was able to run the transporter agent to get my PC installed to a VM. However, Parallels is automatically configuring it and it won't work. It gives me the message that configuration will have to continue manually. Which is fine. But, it then attempts to repair the PC and it never does. Thus, I can never get to the login screen where I can finish the configuration manually. Instead, it just never boots up. Thoughts? It just says it is attempting startup repair over and over.
You can disable reconfiguration to be able chose windows startup options: 1. Shut down VM. 2. Open disk's DiskDescriptor.xml (/path_to_disk_image/disk0.hdd/DiskDescriptor.xml) in text editor 3. Change <CompatLevel> from "level2" to "level2" and save changes. 4. Try to boot VM.
Trying that now. If I force it to start up and not do Startup Repairs, I get a blue screen of death. If I choose Startup Repairs, it never completes and errors out. So, I told the VM to boot from my W7 installation disc and am running a Startup Repair that way. Seems to be taking forever so far -- about 30 min now. I'll report back.
I booted from the disc and had it try the Startup Repair. I received a message that Windows could not repair the computer automatically. Anything else I can try?
Sure. I just want to be clear. That is the Windows side right? Can you help me with where to find it?
It's location usually c:\windows\temp\parallels.log If c:\windows\temp\parallels.log doesn't exist try to find parallels.log in c:\Users folder. parallels-transporter-install.log is installation log file. It can't help us in this case.
Log File Here is the file you requested. Please remember that we are merely users and have no idea what you are looking for unless you tell us specifically what and where. I'd love to get some help here as quick as I can, so please try to be clear. Thanks again for your help.
Also, just so you know....what I have selected for my transfer options are: 1) Customer 2) Partiton 0 (which is a 100 MB system partition I guess -- W7 created it) 3) Partition 1 (the W7 drive that is 100 GB I did not select Partition 2 (the data partition). However, I have tried a Complete Computer in the past and it has failed in exactly the same manner.
Unfortunately this log file is small. It is not enough to investigate problem. Please, provide a full log file or cut log file to 1-2 MB in unpacked state (I need a tail of log file). Ok, I'll try to be more accurate in the future
Log There is nothing else there. It may have gotten trashed by CCleaner or something else. I'll have to re-transfer and grab the log file immediately. I'll post when I do.
Log File I just ran the transport again. The only files I could find on my entire computer are attached. None of them are >1MB. These are all dated today right after I did the transfer. Is there something I am missing on where to grab the log file?
