    Hi Guys,

Running Vista Home on Parallels 5 on my MacBook (Snow Leopard). .mov files work fine on the Mac but in Windows I just get a Quicktime frame full of blackness (with sound). Does anyone know why this is?

    Cheers,
    Russ

    help needed with similar issue...

I am recently experiencing similar behavior (black screen with no video, sound works fine) and am hoping that our issues similar and that someone might be able to help. I have a macbook running Snow Leopard and Paralles 5. I created a Windows 7 Professional VM which hosts Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2005. I use this VM for online training as well as creating test Visual Studio apps.

The vendor of my training material (Appdev) requires use of IE and Windows Media Player to stream its DRM protected material. All has been working well until this week when I updated several software packages to get current updates. FYI – I updated Norton Security Center as well as Paralles for Mac.

I ask this question here because Appdev do not support running their training material via Mac and VM hosting windows.

My symptoms are as follows. The AppDev On Demand web training launches and displays the most pages and content fine, non DRM video streams fine. It is when I launch a page that streams DRM related content that the video portion of the page displays nothing and sound works.

Things I have tried which have not fixed the issue are:
    - Appdev support site lists several web addresses to add to IE’s trusted sites, did that. Checked IE’s Internet Options -> Advanced Tabs -> Security Section -> Allow active content to run in files on My Computer
    - reinstalled parallel tools
    - disabled Norton Securities firewall
    - disabled windows 7 firewall

I was able to use my works windows laptop to access the training material as a test and all went well so I am assuming it must be an issue with either Norton or Paralles for mac. As I mentioned above, I have disabled the Norton firewall as well.

    Suggestions appreciated.
