if you only get 16 colours in full screen and cant't make the screen large enough then maybe you want to assign somewhat more memory to the graphics card. give it 4 gigs or so.

    Hi Jordan,

    I have the same problem.

Did you find a solution in the meantime?

Just received an answer from the support that there are problems with the Parallels Tools shipped with
build 9344 (cannot access shared folders correctly...), which might be the reason for my problems.
I downloaded another version of Parallels Tools with hotfix included:
    download.parallels.com/desktop/v5/en_us/parallels/update3/prl-tools-win.sf.iso
    Unfortunately it doesn't install correctly:
"Error Starting Program - A required .DLL file, PSAPI.DLL, was not found."
    Just asked back...

    Hi RainerB,
please note that Parallels Tools are not available for Windows 98 - can you post ticket # here, I'd like to check it.

    RainerB,
Have you had any luck with this? I'm stuck in the same boat, followed some threads here and downloaded some drivers from HP but no luck with video or audio in my Win98SE VM. The only video driver I can get it to use is the "Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)", which only has the 640x480@16 colors option.

    Thanks in advance. - Will

No, unfortunately there is NO WAY to get a better resolution. I've wasted much time...

Can some member of the Parallels Team please state if it is possible under Windows ME?

    Thanks.

    640x480, 16 colours

I'm in the same boat - can't seem to get more than 640x480 - is this the best we can hope for?

    aha

Found a solution to the problem: VMware Fusion 3 :) Downloaded the evaluation copy and it works a treat. £50ish - might have to bite the bullet and jump ship.

    Sigh.

Finally I am using Microsoft Virtual PC (new version, see WikiPedia),
where Windows 98 is possible up to 1600 x 1200 (under Windows 7, 64 bit).
There is an update (hotfix KB958162.MSP) which shall enable even higher
resolutions, but I didn't succeed in installing it yet.
    Good info about that: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=276879995977
    Hope that helps!

Regarding the other tip (Fusion) I read it can only be used with Windows 98 SE
so this wouldn't work for me...
