I just bought a new MacBook Pro i7. The kernel is configured to run in 64-bit mode. Information about this MBP and the Parallels version I am running is below: Parallels Desktop 5: Build 5.0.9344, Revision 558741 Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro6,1 Processor Name: Intel Core i7 Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 4 MB Memory: 4 GB Processor Interconnect Speed: 4.8 GT/s Boot ROM Version: MBP61.0057.B05 SMC Version (system): 1.57f16 System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.3 (10D2094) Kernel Version: Darwin 10.3.1 Boot Volume: Macintosh HD Boot Mode: Normal Secure Virtual Memory: Enabled 64-bit Kernel and Extensions: Yes I migrated all my data and files from my old MBP including Parallels Desktop and my Windows 7 Ultimate VM. I have my VM configured to mount virtual disks to the Mac OS X desktop. Starting and running my Windows 7 VM on my new MBP works fine. However, I no longer get a desktop mount icon for my running VM. If I stop the VM and attempt to mount it via Parallels Mounter, it reports that it is unable to open the VM. Is this a known issue with the new MacBook Pros?
I fixed this on my own by uninstalling the 32 bit version of MacFuse and replacing it with the 64 bit version. I suspect that I would not run into this issue if I were running the 32 bit version of the kernel.
